A new user can join the TypingWeb community by clicking the white and orange “Start Typing” button found near the center of the homepage. Doing so takes the user to the list of courses. Before the user can select a course, a pop up box appears with a “Register Now” link. The box shifts to reveal the registration form. The form asks for a username, password, email address, country location, birth year, gender and first name. The user is also asked to provide their main typing goal by selecting an option from the drop down box provided. After submitting the information and accepting or skipping the Gold account upgrade offer, the user can access the typing tutor.

Anyone can use TypingWeb for free. Users are not required to purchase a subscription to access their account. The site offers a Gold membership option that costs around $10 (one time fee). The Gold account user is given priority support, access to premium typing games and lessons and no advertisements.
